Anime Zero Weapons Guide: Rarity, Traits, Upgrades and Farming

How the Anime Zero weapon system works: rarity tiers, trait rolls and rerolls, upgrade priorities, accessory pairing and the best dungeons for farming each weapon tier.

Weapons are the entire build identity in Anime Zero. This guide covers the full weapon system — rarity tiers, the trait layer, upgrade economics, accessory pairing and which dungeons reliably drop each tier — so every Coin and Crystal you spend survives into the endgame.

Weapon Rarity and Sources

Anime Zero weapons drop from dungeons, world bosses and event activities, scaled by both content difficulty and dungeon tier. Early dungeons shower commons that exist only to be replaced; mid-tier dungeons start dropping the B-tier workhorses like Divine Emperor and Lights of Divinity; and the highest-difficulty boss dungeons hold the S-tier vault — Shadow Monarch, Flame Director, Cataclysm, Mochi Commander and Cursed King. Difficulty matters more than repetition: bumping a dungeon up one difficulty tier raises drop quality more than clearing the easier version several extra times.

The Trait Layer

Every weapon carries a trait slot, and traits are where damage ceilings live. A top trait roll can add 30 to 50 percent effective damage, which routinely lifts a weapon an entire tier in practice. Traits are rerolled with Trait Reroll Crystals — the rarest free currency in the game, sourced mainly from codes and endgame activities.

The golden rule of traits: reroll the weapon, not the collection. A mid weapon with a perfect trait gets replaced the day an S-tier drops, wasting every crystal spent on it. Bank crystals until you hold a weapon you will genuinely still use in a month, then reroll without hesitation.

Upgrade Economics

Coins flow into weapon upgrades, and the upgrade curve rewards commitment over breadth. Concentrating Coins in your single best weapon outperforms spreading them across a locker of decent picks, because damage upgrades speed up every dungeon run that funds everything else. Account-wide upgrades that apply to all weapons are the one exception — permanent global upgrades compound forever, so buy those the moment they are affordable.

Accessories After Void Artificer

The Void Artificer update added accessory slots that complete the loadout triangle of weapon, hero and accessory. Damage-multiplier accessories are the priority pick — multipliers scale with your whole kit, while flat-stat accessories fall behind as your stats grow. Cooldown accessories rank second for area-weapon farmers. Fill every slot you own before heavily upgrading any single accessory; an empty slot is pure wasted multiplication.

Farming Routes by Tier

Pre-endgame (B tier): run the highest dungeon you clear in under three minutes, bumping difficulty as your weapon upgrades — comfort grinding is the slowest route in the game. Endgame (A/S tier): rotate the highest-difficulty boss dungeons, since bosses roll both the best weapon drops and the burst experience that levels heroes alongside. Event windows: double-drop weekends convert a casual hour into a full farming session — plan long sessions around them whenever the developers run them.

FAQ

Can I transfer upgrades between weapons? No — upgrades bind to the weapon they are spent on, which is why committing to the right weapon matters.

Do traits reroll randomly? Yes, rerolls are random within the trait pool; crystals buy attempts, not specific outcomes.

Is an A-tier with a great trait better than S-tier with a bad one? Yes, measurably — this is the single most common gear decision in Anime Zero and the trait usually wins.
